This volume offers timely and invaluable resources for re-imaging women, marriage and family life in addressing 21st century theological challenges by seven Asian Christian women.

It calls for new ways of being family in redefining kinship as going beyond biological ties. It offers a Christian engagement with Confucion ethics and interfaith dialectics, feminist engagement with the Bible and Church and postcolonial engagement with western feminist theorizing.

The weight of scholarly contribution is marked by the imperative to theologize from the contextual realities of living cultures and faiths and the standpoint of the disenfranchized from a gendered lens.

In doing so, the contributors bring to life the vision and mission of the Ecclesia of Women in Asia. EWA, as an academic forum of Catholic women doing theology in Asia, encourages and assists women in engaging in theologizing that: 1) is inculturated and contextualized in Asian realities; 2) is built on the religious experience and praxis of the socially excluded; 3) promotes gender mutuality and the integrity of creation; and 4) fosters dialogue with other disciplines and faiths.
